Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today announced that the State government to provide double cots, cotton beds, pillows, bedspreads at a cost of Rs three crore to police personnel who are staying in Special Police Force and Armed Forces Quarters.
She announced a further hike in uniform allowance from Rs 200 to Rs 250. Also the Chief Minister announced creation of 1116 vacant posts in the Prisons Department.
An official press release here said, 'The police personnel have been working tirelessly to ensure peace and harmony among people across the State. So, to give them the best and to motivate them, the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has been giving them a lot of concessions for them.'
A total of 2, 055 double cots, 4,110 cotton beds, pillows, bedspreads at a cost of Rs three crore would be given to the police personnel.
The press release said this announcement would benefit 96,399 policemen and cost the State Exchequer an additional cost of Rs 5,78, 39,400 every year.
Similarly, in the Prisons Department, to motivate field workers, the Chief Minister announced creation of 1116 fresh posts. This would help 2,232 officials get promotions. This would cost the Exchequer an additional cost of Rs 2.7 crore every year.
Also, to ensure that all concessions extended to police personnel should reach those serving in the Prisons Department too, the Chief Minister announced that a co-operatives store opened for police personnel can be used by the staff of the Prisons Department. Also, she increased the uniform allowance to them from Rs 200 to Rs 250.
This would benefit 3,455 staff members in the department. The government would incur an additional expense of Rs 20.73 lakh.
