Sub:- Enhancement of the period of Maternity Leave to female Government servants.
Preamble:
Government have accepted the recommendation of the Official Pay Committee 2011 to increase the period of maternity leave to female Government servants from 135 days to 180 days and hence, the following order.

BANGALORE, DATED:14.06.2012.
As per rule 135(1) of the Karnataka Civil Service Rules, the period of maternity leave to be sanctioned to the female Government servant is increased from 135 days to 180 days with effect from 01.04.2012 subject to the conditions stipulated thereunder.
A female Government servant who is proceeding on maternity leave on or after 01.04.2012 is eligible for 180 days of maternity leave. Female Government servants, who proceeded on maternity leave prior to 01.04.2012 and not completed 135 days as on that date, and are continuing on such leave are entitled to 180 days of maternity leave instead of 135 days.
A female Government servant who has completed 135 days of maternity leave prior to 01.4.2012 and continuing on other kind of leave is not entitled for the benefit of revised maternity leave of 180 days.
Necessary amendment will be issued to rule 135(1) of Karnataka Civil Service Rules, separately.
