All government employees will contribute in the efforts to check discriminatory sex selection and violence against women. For this purpose, all the employees of the central and state governments as well as local bodies will take a pledge on August 9.
According to state government officials, the government employees will also take an oath to promote birth of girls, give them affection, bring them up and make them empower citizens of the country.
The union woman and child development ministry has recommended to increase awareness towards girls' protection. In the context of the letter issued by the central government, the state government has issued necessary directives. It is noteworthy that effective initiatives like Ladli Laxmi Yojna, Mukhyamantri Kanayadan Yojna and promotional scheme for girl students have also been taken in Madhya Pradesh.
The mass pledge for eradicating the evil of discriminatory sex selection through abortion will be taken on the occasion of Quit India Movement Day. According to Census-2011, the ratio of girls' upto six years of age has declined to 914 per 1000 boys. It was 927 in the year 2001.
